About Barker Block
Los Angeles is widely renowned for its innovative, world-class arts scene, and nowhere in the city has that scene coalesced more than in the downtown Arts District. In the heart of this thriving artistic community sits Barker Block, a historic industrial building boasting 310 cutting edge live/work lofts.
Barker Block’s loft community was formed from the Barker Brothers furniture factories and warehouses, the oldest of which date to the 1880s. The original design of Barker is a mix of buildings made up of concrete, brick, dramatic wood trusses, ceiling height variations, and walls of windows. It offers modern design amenities, a rooftop pool and spa, barbeques, fire pits, cabanas, fitness center, and outdoor courtyards!
“Just walking into these live/work spaces seems to inspire creativity. You can feel the history and character in the sturdy walls, rafters and floors. And the artistic vibe is equally strong in the community areas and walkways making the connection to its environment,” said Kimberly Lucero, Kor vice president of sales and marketing, residential.
The surrounding blocks are full of shops, boutiques, bars, avant restaurants, the ever-popular Urth Caffe, endless creative studios, art galleries, etc. Landmark destinations like LA Live and Staples Center are just a few blocks away, along with easy access to freeways, the Metro and Union Station.
